The guys with those snowmobiles should really be happy for a change. They've been whining for years now that there is never any snow for them. Well, I think that yer good ole "Mother Nature" heard them crying and really turned it on.
Madison I heard is on schedule to have its' snowiest winter yet. Milwaukee is online to have like the 5th whiteist winter. Green Bay is set to have its' 8th snowiest winter if everything continues as predicted. I don't know know about Cecil - cause it's not like it's really publicized much but I know I have way more snow than I need. Yesterday after .25 to .50 inches of rain/ice we got about 9.5 inches of snow. I'm glad I took the 4-wheeler with the plow on it out about 3:00 pm to move around what we had already received.
Today, as per the weather report and by looking out the window we got another 2 inches so far and it's still droppin' out of the sky pretty good. We got a nasty note from our mail carrier on Saturday stating if you want your mail - clear your &#! mail box. I did that today while celebrating "President's Day" on my day off thinking all the while that they held my mail until I remembered - Hey! There ain't any mail today.
Would you believe that the pictured snowmobile above is one taken at one of the "Fire and Ice" racing events on Shawano Lake this year? It took second out of 57 racers. Would you believe I pulled the photo off the internet and don't have a clue what he was doing?

Where Can I Get A Job Like That?
The old Weatherman predicted that we would be hammered with up to 8 inches of the fluffy white stuff. (Oh my achin' back and just about every other part of my body.) I would guess we got about 3 inches or so. I'm not complaining, but where else can you get a job like that. It appears that they are wrong much of the time and they still keep their jobs.
A few years ago I spent a week in Las Vegas and in the morning while I was getting ready in my room to face the day I would have the TV on to hear the news and the weather reports. Mind you , this was in August. The Weather guy (weather person to be politically correct) would come on and say - "Today the temperature is going to be between 100 and 105 degrees with plenty of sunshine." He was correct almost every day. His job - has to be one of the easiest jobs in the world...

Ice Racing on Shawano Lake
Last Sunday while driving around the Lake to find the Swans - we came across the Ice Racing event held just off the Shawawo County Park on the North side of the lake.
We got there in time just to see the last race as they traveled around the oval that had been plowed off earlier. There was sufficient parking for the spectators when we were there and the landing by the County Park was in fairly good shape for getting on and off the Lake. The yellow car on the right took first place in this particular race.

Poodle Hog Day February 2, 2008
Today was "Poodle Hog Day" in Cecil, WI. (Not to be confused with "Ground Hogs Day" This long-time tradition which began early this morning on a whim for the first time at about 9:30 will determine how long we will have to continue to endure this cold and snowy winter.
Obviously the Poodle Hog did not burrow his way out of a hole in the frozen ground but we're not that scientific in Wisconsin. Actually he had to be coaxed and bribed out of the warm house with treats in order for us to complete this experiment.
If you click on the photo above to enlarge it, you will see that "Brew" the "Poodle Hog" (French that is.) was unable to detect a shadow since we are currently in the middle of a mild snow storm. (Some more partly cloudy that we'll have to shovel.)
By preparing for and by taking the time and effort to perform this experiment we have determined that winter should be ending soon in Cecil. (And no... Mona was not blocking the sunlight!)
Please Note: For those who are doubters, the actual photo has been filed in a private vault so that anyone can see that it has not been altered.
